The before and after show of the fireplace opening
That you can warm up to features like a docking station is all a matter of opinion. The good piece, by the way, was never used, so in its virgin state it dawned well-behaved and unawakened….
… at least until the case quite obviously found that it preferred to look as if it had been softened by Luigi Colani’s hand. With a little hot forming, this was no problem, as there is plenty of plastic available.
The result was a snappy grill that would certainly have been enough for at least one bratwurst. Most hobby anglers are immune to the taste of barbecue lighter anyway, so why not use some Far Eastern plastic instead of kerosene and kerosene?
A little bit of forensics
Well, flames and smoke almost always go out the top, but the cozy fireplace fire had to come from somewhere. After extinguishing (and cooling down), we went looking for the spot where the pot roast pyrotechnically switched to open enforcement.
The visible trigger was the power connection of the SATA board for the docking station. It was also annoying that the power supply didn’t switch off during the fire, nor during the abusive coffee insertion, and the computer even continued to run dutifully. To Corsair’s credit, we have to note that no power supply currently offers a fire, smoke and water detector. Why not, actually?
A deeper look into the inner workings reveals the colorful tango of fused cables and their fused sheathing. Despite everything, someone has to explain to me plausibly how such a dicey situation can even come about with a factory-connected cable and a never-used docking station.
Let’s just let the following pictures of foamy plastic speak for themselves, a picture is (sometimes) worth a thousand words:
And this one is nice too:
No, this is not an anal plug, but a stinknormal screw. See it!
