HDR mode
LG still has to improve at this point. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a mode that can exactly follow the EOTF curve. So, if you are looking for absolute accuracy, you will be a bit disappointed here. Nevertheless, it is and remains an OLED panel and thus HDR always works. Per pixel dimming, sufficient peak brightness as well as “infinite” contrast form the basis for really awesome HDR gaming.

The Vivid mode pops significantly more than the Player 1. If you want the best possible color accuracy, you should use the Player 1.

The LG 45GR95QE performs quite well in the ColorChecker in Player 1 mode. It only weakens a bit in terms of color brightness. As already mentioned, LG will have to take another look at that. I installed a firmware update after the tests. I wanted to see the performance before/after.
Regarding EOTF tracking, LG was able to achieve slight improvements in my sample. The still not perfect EOTF tracking leads to loss of detail at the bottom in terms of dark content like shadows. Here, the LG 45GR95QE is sometimes clearly too bright. On the other hand, it runs out of steam at the top. In doubt, it is too dark there. Please note that this is important for the readers who want this accuracy. This has nothing to do with the generally technically feasible HDR performance.
The rest of the values regarding ColorChecker and Saturation have unfortunately only changed so marginally that it is not worth the time to talk about them further. Likewise, the update had no effect on SDR performance or response times. Let’s get to today’s conclusion.
