Processing and mobility
The workmanship is very good, which must be measured by the price. As typical for OLEDs, the panel is very thin, but it gets a bit thicker again in some places due to the bendability. The bending mechanism – with the extendable/retractable handles – was implemented quite expediently. As long as you don’t press until water runs out of the panel, you won’t break anything. Corsair has also had this validated for a long time. In terms of screen adjustment options, there is nothing more besides tilting (forward/back) and bending the panel.
Untypically for LG OLED, the panel comes with a “matte” coating. My OLED C1 is like a mirror – similar to the picture from the back of the Xeneon Flex. However, the coating is not really matte like in many IPS/VA panels. It’s hard to describe. I like it because it breaks up the mirror effect and diffuses light reflection more than any OLED I’ve seen.
Connectors, cables and accessories
On the front of the stand you will find the power on/off, the OSD joystick, the input as well as 2x USB-A and 3.5 jacks. The rest of the ports are located on the back of the stand. In terms of cables, there is: external power supply, HDMI, DisplayPort, a pure USB-C, a USB-C to USB-A (upstream) and a second power plug. This is probably suitable for US sockets (my guess), so if you travel a lot, you can always take your Corsair Flex in your hand luggage. It’s bendable… Wink!
OSD
If you know one – you know them all. You won’t find things like overdrive here – OLED doesn’t need that. The end customer can navigate through different pre-sets such as text, movie and games, or try it out with three different white points. Warm, Cold and Standard (6500K) or configure a custom one. For gamers, there is then the crosshair function as an overlay and it looks quite bold on the panel – in other words, you don’t have to look for it with a magnifying glass.
Software and Burn-In Protection
Currently, you cannot use Corsair iCUE in conjunction with the Xeneon Flex yet. But that is still scheduled to come in the first quarter of 2023. After all, but unfortunately too late for me. What I can say about burn-in, though, is that Corsair offers 24-hour support, a 3-year warranty including burn-in, and a zero dead pixel policy. Commendable!
Pixel shifting explained:OLED care as they say has also been implemented here. Besides the ABL, there is: an automated pixel refresh every 8 hours of use (can also be started manually in the OSD), pixel shifting and a total dimming of the display – after about 5 minutes of static content. Wiggle the mouse once and the display runs at the set brightness value again. I also recommend Windows Dark Mode, automatic hiding of the taskbar, an icon-free desktop and activating the screen saver after 2-3 minutes without use. Then the OLED panel should probably last a lifetime.
So, now the panel has to show what LEDs it was carved from. One more…
