Summary and conclusion
What are we taking with us today? We now know that there are diverse color spaces and in the end we only really need a handful of them. From my point of view, sRGB is still the binding color space for PC users. Gaming, homepages, YouTube etc. all go into the sRGB color space. Only the professional needs more! If you don’t only gamble, you need a wide gamut monitor. Depending on the application, you should make sure that you cover the color spaces that are important today: P3, Adobe RGB or best of all Rec. 2020!
If you own a monitor like the ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM, you can really work with it. But it should have a calibration tool. Which brings us full circle to the article about the SpyderX Elite. The inexpensive SpyderX in conjunction with DisplayCal is also sufficient. Then you can create a corresponding ICC profile for all color spaces.

I think that now everyone also understands the connection between white point D65 and a corresponding gamma value. If you keep this in mind, the gray balance, the color temperature and finally the color fidelity will work out. Of course, the choice of the LCD panel (TN vs. VA vs. IPS) or even OLED plays a decisive role here. The topic of viewing angles, color representation, etc…
Likewise, I have explained to you how I will transfer in the future – the areas of today’s article – into Monitor tests and thus Monitor articles. We have thus created an initial basis for how I will rate monitors in the future. There is certainly a need for a little optimization over time, but you have to start first.
Conclusion
I have – hopefully – been able to make you understand most of the terms that are important for the future. At least I firmly assume so! In addition, we learned a much broader amount of information – also related to the topic of HDR. Without drifting completely into the incomprehensibility of technical jargon.
