Haptics and wearing comfort
Before I turn to the practical test, I would like to briefly discuss the feel and wearing comfort. Basically, the headset is very comfortable and can be worn for many hours without any problems, which I tested several times. Due to the low weight, the soft pads and the always present “contact pressure”, the device sits light as a feather, but still extremely secure on the head.
There is nothing to criticize about the workmanship itself. Everything seems stable and feels good, nothing wobbles or creaks. The adjustment mechanism of the temple is clearly grated and especially the ear pads seem very high quality. Only the choice of materials tastes a bit bitter, which brings me directly to the next point.
Regarding the workmanship and comfort, I have to note a few small things, considering the high price. Even though it’s definitely complaining on a very high level, these are still small shortcomings that I don’t want to hide.
First of all, there is the aforementioned choice of materials, where I personally would have liked to see a higher percentage of (light) metals for a recommended retail price of 279€. The plastic used does not look “cheap” and I am also sure that the textile covers used are very durable, but the headset somehow lacks that certain “something”.
Not a direct point of criticism, more a matter of getting used to, but one that confused me again every time I put the headset on over the entire test period of several days: the ear cups are attached to the headband in such a way that it is always “slanted” (pointing very far towards the forehead) when the ear cups are aligned so that they lie comfortably over the shape of the ear. This was very unfamiliar and took some getting used to for me, but always settled down after a few minutes of wearing, when I got used to this positioning of the temple. This may not be the case for every user, but since I have never noticed this before with any other headphones, I wanted to mention it here.
The seams of the leatherette part of the ear pads protrude a bit and exert slight pressure on the contact surface of the wearer’s neck/jaw bone at certain points.
After further hours of testing, however, I have to add at this point that the material quickly softens and the problem will probably solve itself completely in the long run.
