Sound impression
Again, first of all, it should be noted that sound perception is of course very subjective and influenced by one’s own habits and preferences. Since I lack professional equipment for a spectrum analysis, here comes again my very personal evaluation. Since I usually only use wired headsets, the Arctis 7P+ has to compete against HyperX’s popular all-around Cloud Alpha here.
In the technology comparison one can already recognize various differences, here however first the available frequency range is interesting. It turns out to be a bit narrower, which can also be heard minimally during use. Overall, however, the headset can convince in terms of sound reproduction. Both music and games sound good, locating noise sources is effortless.
If you want to change the sound profile yourself, you can do so with the Steelseries GG software. This also allows you to adjust when the headset should turn itself off when no audio is being played.
Microphone Check
According to the manufacturer, a bi-directional Clearcast microphone with noise cancellation is installed here, which unfortunately could not convince me at all, especially in wireless operation. Here are the specifications:
Here’s the Steelseries Arctis 7P+ in wireless mode:
And in direct comparison still wired via AUX to a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro USB sound card:
As a reference, the HyperX Cloud Alpha, which is also connected to the aforementioned sound card, holds its own:
The recording was done in Audacity without any further editing.
