Software
With the LIGHT² 180, SHARKOON is once again focusing on an independent range. Of course, it would be more convenient to control all devices via the same software, but this way you keep the individual programs simple and clear. The LIGHT² 180 software is only a few megabytes in size and does not seem to dig very deeply into the system. The program consumes less than 5MB when running in the background.
On the first page you will find the profile management and the mouse button assignment. A total of five profiles can be stored in the mouse’s internal memory.
All keys are freely programmable. Besides the basic mouse functions, you can also configure some Windows functions like “copy/cut/delete”, multimedia functions like “next track/start/pause”, self-created macros or even a “sniper button”.
For the DPI setting, seven gradations are available as standard. Each level can be configured in increments of 100 from 100 to 12,000. The sensitivity of the X- and Y-axis can be adjusted separately. If you do not need all seven levels, you can deactivate individual levels.
The lighting settings are pleasingly simple. There are a total of 10 different effects, for which only the intensity (brightness), the frequency (speed) and, for some, the color can be adjusted.
In the advanced settings I found some options that I would like to see in other manufacturers’ software. In addition to specific settings such as the debounce time and the lift-off distance, you can also set the scroll speed, for example, without first having to open the window’s own mouse settings.
The macro manager is basically self-explanatory. You create a macro, record the sequence of inputs, select the delay between individual actions if necessary and save the configuration. Then assign the appropriate macro to the desired key.
If you want to take a closer look: SHARKOON provides a separate manual for the software in which the individual options are explained in more detail.
