Conclusion
Now, before I get to the actual star of the show, I’d like to say a few words about SGK3. For me, this keyboard is a real surprise and an absolute value for money. In the free trade regularly around the 60€ to get, it lets very many competitor products sink before shame in the ground. Just under 1.5 kilograms in weight and absolutely no creaking when twisting the case leave a very solid impression.
Only the missing palm rest could be criticized, but the keyboard isn’t so high that you can cramp your hands when typing without a palm rest. If you want to change from an old rubberdome keyboard to a mechanical keyboard and don’t have a bigger budget, I can recommend the SGK3 with a clear conscience.
Finally the conclusion to the SGK60 with the great Kailh BOX Switches. Although I could not imagine this at all at the beginning, I can confirm after the test that the BOX Switches are indeed superior to the regular switches in some points. They can be typed much smoother, probably due to the wider “stamp”. This is especially noticeable when you don’t hit the keys perfectly in the middle when typing quickly. While the regular switches with their thin “pin” tend to jam, the much more stable and wider “stamp” of the BOX Switches reacts much less sensitive to it.
For gaming, the switches are an absolute pleasure, I had real fun to “peek” around a few corners in CS:GO again. For typing, I’ve been preferring tactile switches for a while now, but they are noticeably louder, especially in the Clicky versions. Harvest I with the MX Blues in the evening in the living room regularly evil looks, I (or my wife) with the fairly quiet red BOX switches mostly have my peace. Maybe I’ll get some tactile BOX switches under my fingertips in the foreseeable future, they could be a very good compromise.
In any case, there is little to criticize about the keyboard’s general workmanship – everything feels solid and valuable, nothing creaks or rattles. For the called price of € 89.99, there is also here a lot of keyboard for the money. The illumination is strong, the font of the keys is well readable, the SKILLER software is nice and tidy and the BOX switches do a very good job. If you want to think outside the box, the SGK60 is certainly a good choice.
