Sharkoon Software
As already mentioned, the Sharkoon keyboards also require software in order to use the complete range of functions. Although you already have many options through the countless function keys, but honestly.. who wants to configure all the keys awkwardly via key combinations when you can click everything together in seconds in a graphical interface?
What turned out to be a bit annoying, but in the end not so wrong, was the fact that Sharkoon uses separate software for each device. This has the decisive advantage that the respective programs are very slim, tidy and on point – I almost like them better than the bloated programs of the competitors.
SGK3 Software
On the start page of the clearly laid out program we find all the settings that are available to us. All settings made apply to the profile marked in blue, of which the SGK3 can store three.
In addition to the polling rate, each individual key can also be programmed or reassigned separately in this page. These can be functions of other keys, shortcuts to standard programs or even macros.
It’s the usual madness in the lighting department.
The macro manager is also pretty self-explanatory. You record the key sequences, adjust the waiting times between individual actions if necessary, save the macro and place it on a key.
SGK60 Software
In principle, the software for the SGK60 is almost identical and only arranged slightly differently. On the home screen, we also have access to the current profile, of which the SGK60 can store 20.
Since the edge light on the back of the keyboard counts as a separate lighting zone, it naturally gets its own area in the software.
There are a few other nice things to choose from when it comes to the key assignment of the individual keys, although system functions, for example, are also only rudimentary things like “Standby” etc.
The Markomanager is a bit more extensive than on the SGK3 and can hold 391 instead of 255 commands per macro.
In the software settings, we can only view the version of the software and firmware and select the language.
