Technical data and features
Since I already mentioned most of the features in the last section, I’ll start with the technical specifications here before going into a few more specific features.
Optionally, the keyboard can also be purchased with Cherry MX Speed Silver switches. For the additional price of 10€ it offers with 45 instead of 50g a slightly lower release pressure and with 1,2 instead of 2,2mm a much earlier release point.
Now let’s move on to the more specialized features that Thermaltake simply includes without making a big deal out of it. For one thing, there are the materials used. Although the thick metal plate and the massive volume control are made of lightweight aluminum, the keyboard weighs in at a whopping 1.5kg.
In addition to the illuminated keys, a discreet RGB ring has been encircled around the entire body of the keyboard. On a bright desk, this creates a kind of glow effect.
Besides the profiles and the lighting modes, which I will talk about in the “Software” section, many functions can also be controlled directly via the keyboard. Instead of the second Windows key, the Argent K5 has been given an FN key, which allows a double assignment of all F keys and the block above the arrow keys. In addition to controlling the LED disco, shortcuts for essential programs such as Windows Explorer, the mail program or the calculator are also implemented in this way.
For the curious we have of course the complete manual again.
