Summary
There aren’t really any negative points, except for the missed compliance with the PCIe slot under extreme load and the fan noise. Without OC one remains just in the frame or is only marginally above the allowed 5.5 amps. The disco lighting of the ice front also gets its comeuppance, because the tearing noises of the fans at the somewhat unhappily designed and jagged fan openings shouldn’t be like this. The rest of the card fits and the look will at least polarize.
The cooling performance is still quite good despite the associated noise development within the scope of the power loss, because the weight of over 1.5 kilos also contributes in the form of sufficient cooling surface. Silent mode isn’t that silent (but audibly quieter), but I definitely prefer Performance mode despite the fan noise. You just don’t have to let the components sweat like that. Then rather a little louder, but more durable. Exactly for all these reasons and also because of the availability and the street price I can’t give an expolicit buy tip but the performance booster, because the card was fast.
Conclusion
The current street price starting at 1600 euros is certainly a board, but at least you get the most expensive and colorful disco ball in the graphic cat. The availability and the actual street prices far above the MSRP shouldn’t be the fault of Palit, Samsung has simply taken over, NVIDIA has speculated a bit and the retailer also adds a lot to it. Especially as one hears that various things are also in short supply, which are otherwise needed for production. So it’s a causal chain with lots of unknowns. Buy? Why not, actually. If it weren’t for the price…
