These differences between both CPUs are marginal, but at least reproducible. However, such small distances are already negligible. Still, at first glance, the Ryzen 9 3900XT is a tiny tick slower than the Ryzen 9 5900X in both test scenarios, so there is still a tiny CPU limit here.
The FPS histories of all runs are rather unsuspicious
In terms of percentiles, the Ryzen 9 3900X with rBAR off seems to have a smaller disadvantage, but the truth is still more in the big picture.
Unfortunately, the frame times as a curve are not yet very meaningful for this.
But that’s what the beams are for! If we now analyse the bar chart, we can see very clearly that percentiles are not everything! Frametimes with rBAR are, relatively speaking, significantly better for both CPUs with rBAR On (note, no bar sorting), with slight advantages for the Ryzen 9 5900X:
With the variances, the picture suddenly reverses in some areas, with the differences looking worse based on the coloring than they really are based on the numerical values. It’s rather marginal, as Borderlands 3 without minor micro-stutters is a pipe dream on the RX 6800 anyway.
