AMD Ryzen 3900X and 3700X review | igor'sLAB

Power consumption

As mentioned at the beginning, the optimized AVX is one of the most important innovations of the AMD Ryzen 3000 CPUs. If the processing of corresponding commands is supported by the software, both the Ryzen 7 3700X and the Ryzen 9 3900X are more economical than the test candidates from the Intel warehouse. However, in both tests you have to include the respective motherboards as an uncertainty factor. Each manufacturer handles the voltage specifications and the load line very differently, which also led to the big differences with the Ryzen 7 2700X.

If the the Ryzen 7 3700X reaches the highest value with 151 watts. Even the Intel Core i9-9900K is almost 20 watts more efficient than AMD's most potent Ryzen 7 chip. However, the asused Asus motherboard may have made a dent in our bill, because these boards were always at the top of the drinking guild at the Ryzen 7 2700X.

It will therefore have to be the task of post-tests to determine specifications, power consumption values and performance on different boards and to compare all of this in a meaningful way.
