One of the most famous and popular DirectX 8 games is Mafia from 2002. We tested this game from Windows 95 to Windows 7. Mafia is easy to install and even today a classic fun game with a long-term factor. The results are not surprising due to the relatively low hardware requirements and show that even an old system can still keep up easily.
Only the loading times on Windows 9x are almost a third longer than those from Windows 2000. Windows 7 loads the fastest, followed by XP and Vista.
Windows Seven is ahead of XP and Vista. In spite of everything, it can still be played quite comfortably on Windows 9x. The old 6800GT is still quite fast in this game even with a activated AA.
